Summary
Join Dexterra Group and Horizon North's partnership with Chi Mino Ozhitoowin (CMO) as a First Cook! This key role involves preparing and serving meals in a remote camp setting for the Waasigan Transmission Line Project. You will be responsible for preparing feature proteins, ensuring quality standards, and supervising kitchen staff. The position offers a 2-week on/2-week off rotation, all meals and accommodations, travel, and access to various amenities. The ideal candidate possesses previous cooking experience, a current Food Safe certificate, and strong leadership skills. Requirements
- Previous cooking experience is required
- Must have a current Food Safe certificate
- High standards in maintaining a clean and organized Kitchen
- Be able to handle the following physical demands: Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Perform work with arms at full length
- Work with arms above shoulder height
Responsibilities
- Handle, prepare, produce, and timely service of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in accordance with approved methods and standards
- Prepare meals according to client scheduling and within the menu plan and budget guidelines
- Prepare adequate quantities of the menu choices by following all production quotas set
- Prepare food as close to consumption time as possible. Supervise all portioning of meals on serving line to ensure all clients are receiving amounts specified
- Coordinate all kitchen staff involved in the preparation and serving of meals
- Follow proper storage and rotation of all food supplies
Preferred Qualifications
- Large scale camp cooking experience is an asset
- Red Seal or other certifications is an asset
- Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories is an asset
- Previous experience in supervising a team is preferred
