Requirements

  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, preferably related to acoustics
  • 5+ years of experience developing audio systems for portable consumer electronics
  • Experience with audio test systems (HATS/KEMAR, Audio Precision, Listen, etc.)
  • Ability to work well with other humans

Responsibilities

  • Develop and verify audio systems for GoPro devices
  • Discover, define, develop, and deploy audio technologies into GoPro devices
  • Define and develop new audio test protocols
  • Create new audio manufacturing test systems
  • Define requirements
  • Select and integrate audio components
  • Verify HW performance
  • Develop new features
  • Create and tune audio algorithms
  • Capture various use cases in the field
  • Incorporate listening feedback
  • Coordinate with internal teams (product management, engineering, operations, program management, etc.) and external partners (suppliers and contract manufacturers) to ensure audio is awesome!
  • Be responsible for audio performance for the products you design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Designing devices for use in and out of wind and water
  • Modeling and testing acoustic transducers
  • Knowing mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing processes
  • Knowing DSP fundamentals
  • Knowing Wireless and USB audio protocols
  • Knowing machine learning based processing
  • Evaluating audio hardware in lab and in production
  • Integrating acoustic transducers into mechanics
  • Creating and tuning audio algorithms (Wind reduction, AGC/limiters/compressors, stereo)
  • Developing test methods to evaluate new technologies
  • Developing tools for evaluating audio performance
  • Recording audio in the outdoors
