Summary
Join Walden University as a Faculty Member and contribute to our mission of supporting adult learners. You will primarily teach blended academic year in residence (BAYR) courses using the Blackboard platform, engaging with students asynchronously and synchronously. Responsibilities include grading assignments, answering student questions, and delivering live sessions. Travel to Minneapolis for an in-person component is required. Faculty receive training in teaching techniques and Walden's policies. Opportunities for additional stipends exist through dissertation committee participation and residencies. A doctoral-level psychologist license and significant experience in the field are required.
Requirements
- Possess a Doctoral level Psychologist license
- Earned doctorate in the field of study or closely related field (or recognized by a countryβs Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education)
- Possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of Psychology, including experience in the practice of Professional Psychology (Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or School Psychology)
- Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
- Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, and computer monitor
- Be able to use Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), online meeting software such as Teams and Zoom, zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
- Have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
Responsibilities
- Teach primarily Blended Academic Year in Residence (BAYR) courses using the Blackboard platform
- Interact with students within the Blackboard platform
- Engage with students in asynchronous Discussion Boards
- Grade assignments
- Answer student questions
- Deliver 2 synchronous sessions during the quarter
- Post responses to student questions within 48 hours
- Teach BAYR courses requiring asynchronous, synchronous, and in-person instruction
- Provide in-person instruction for approximately 4-5 hours per day during the 7-day in-person component of BAYR courses
- Participate in doctoral dissertation committees
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
- Two years or more of online or technology-enabled instruction experience
- Two years or more of student research mentoring
- Experience administering, scoring, interpreting psychological assessments, preferably cognitive, learning, achievement, and objective and projective personality assessments
- Experience with a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions
- Experience with distance learning
- Willingness to travel to provide face-to-face instruction
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
