Summary

World Relief Chicagoland is looking for an experienced TESOL/ESL instructor to teach evening ESOL/ESL classes to adult students living in Chicago through its Chicago office. The position requires a mature and personal Christian faith, competence in the use of online instructional resources, a BA in TESOL/related field or a BA and significant training in teaching, and at least 1 year of TESL/ESL teaching experience.

  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs , Statement of Faith , Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Competence in the use of online instructional resources and moderate computer and technology literacy skills
  • BA in TESOL/related field or a BA and significant training in teaching
  • Minimum of 1 year of TESOL/ESL teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Create and teach ESOL/ESL lessons through virtual classroom meetings that incorporate English literacy, digital literacy, life, employment, and college-readiness skills
  • Adapt lesson plans and materials for a multilevel classroom
  • Assign and provide feedback on homework assignments
  • Utilize World Relief’s online ESOL/ESL teaching software and curriculum
  • Assist students in exploring and setting educational and career goals
  • Guide, assist, and track involvement of assigned classroom volunteers
  • Provide brief virtual class orientations for new students
  • Meet and provide feedback to students during end-of-term meetings and as needed
  • Conduct formal and informal student assessments
  • Document and communicate student attendance, levels of participation, and classroom trends to program staff
  • Follow up with students who are absent from class
  • Ensure classroom policies are followed
  • Complete all required professional development trainings in a timely manner
  • Maintain proper care of class materials and technology equipment
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with staff
  • Attend all required staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
