Requirements

• Possess a minimum of a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or a closely related field
• Demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: Design and modeling of optical devices such as waveguides, lasers, and plasmonic devices; development of meta-materials; and optical inverse design
• Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and advanced development for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) in the heads area
• Perform optical modeling for HAMR heads (waveguides, lasers, near-field transducers, thin film test samples)
• Develop innovative designs (metal optics, laser integration, light delivery)
• Design optical test structures
• Conduct detailed data analysis
• Collaborate closely with wafer process teams to drive innovation in design, process, and materials

Preferred Qualifications

• Have industrial experience
• Have multi-physics modeling experience
• Demonstrate the ability to lead a project in research and/or advanced development
