Advanced Reader Design/Modeling Intern

Western Digital
Summary
Join Western Digital, a global technology leader, and contribute to the future of data storage. This role involves developing integrated spin-transport/micromagnetic models for next-generation non-volatile storage (NLSV) readers. You will evaluate the performance of prospective NLSV readers, establish signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) scalability, and assess the technological feasibility of replacing MTJ-based readers. A PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field is required, along with a strong background in magnetic recording physics and device modeling. Experience with Finite Element-based micromagnetic codes and scripting languages like Python/MATLAB is preferred. Western Digital offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, health insurance, retirement plans, and more.
