Summary
Join Oklo's team as an Aerosol Transport Engineer, modeling radionuclide migration from nuclear fuel to the environment, focusing on room-to-room migration and atmospheric dispersion. You will model aerosol movement using tools like CONTAM and RADTRAD, collaborate with design teams, develop methods, and document your work. The ideal candidate is passionate about clean energy and advanced fission, a quick learner, skilled in modeling aerosol transport, and comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as nuclear, mechanical, or civil engineering
- Experience with aerosol, pollutant, and/or radionuclide transport analysis codes such as ARCON96, PAVAN, SIERRA ATD, RADTRAD, CONTAM, SCIPUFF, or equivalent
- Experience with data processing (e.g., pre-processing, post-processing, scripting)
Responsibilities
- Model aerosol movement via building leakage pathways and HVAC systems with tools such as CONTAM and RADTRAD
- Model ex-building atmospheric dispersion with tools such as ARCON96, PAVAN, and SIERRA ATD
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define design requirements, and provide technical feedback to quick-iterating design teams
- Develop methods, code qualification, and verification/validation processes in support of analyses
- Document work using modern tools and techniques and write well-written, thoughtful technical reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with nuclear engineering principles and multi-physics analysis methods for engineering applications, particularly as they relate to advanced reactors
- Experience with HVAC, filtration systems, and air quality analysis
- Experience with Python, CI/CD computing environments, and modern software engineering best practices
- Core competencies in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics first principles
- Master's or PhD in a relevant field
- 5-10 years relevant work experience
