Summary

Requirements

  • Requires both a Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) and a valid pilot's license (Part 61) with at least 250 flight hours or professional experience as an Air Traffic Controller Specialist in the US
  • Needs experience as a remote pilot in command or flight operations manager, specifically with BVLOS drone operations
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of airspace regulations, experience with low-altitude airspace, and familiarity with different types of aircraft operations
  • Requires proficiency with geospatial data and analytical tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences, build relationships with stakeholders, and give presentations
  • Must be knowledgeable about the current state of commercial drone operations, particularly BVLOS and drone delivery
  • Needs a clean driving record within the previous 36 months
  • A current Medical Class Certificate
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with FAA required drug & alcohol policy

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with other airspace users (crewed aircraft, drones, public safety) to ensure safe operations and deconfliction. This includes developing procedures and tools for communication and coordination
  • Maintain Part 135 Pilot in Command proficiency and currency, flying a minimum number of hours per month. Use this expertise to analyze airspace, assess risks, and inform site selection for Wing operations
  • Actively engage with industry stakeholders, public safety agencies, and community groups to promote understanding of Wing's operations and foster collaboration. This includes attending conferences and giving presentations
  • Ensure Wing has a comprehensive understanding of low-altitude air traffic through data analysis. Work with the UTM team to develop and implement autonomous conflict detection systems
  • Stay informed about the operational status of nearby airports and heliports. Support Wing's public safety outreach and contribute to the development of safety procedures

Preferred Qualifications

Prior involvement in aviation industry associations is also preferred
