Summary

You will review, negotiate, and manage contracts for complex projects, collaborating with internal and external teams. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, experience in A/E/C, and a focus on design-build or alternative delivery contracts. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience in contract review, with a focus on design-build or alternative delivery contracts strongly desired
  • Experience in the A/E/C industry required
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confidence negotiating with internal teams and external clients

Responsibilities

  • Review alternative delivery project contracts (including DB, PDB, CMGC, and P3) to identify, assess, and mitigate risk
  • Draft and negotiate contract modifications, with a focus on protecting company interests in non-traditional delivery models
  • Summarize key contract provisions for project teams and leadership, with clear recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Manage subcontracts, ensuring flow-down of prime contract obligations and verification of insurance compliance
  • Support business development and proposal efforts, particularly around unique terms associated with alternative delivery
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, and clients to drive successful negotiation outcomes
  • Track and report on the status of ongoing contract negotiations
  • Participate as a valued member of Benesch’s Risk Management Team, contributing to process improvements and knowledge sharing

Preferred Qualifications

Paralegal certification or Juris Doctorate is a plus!
