Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in applied machine learning, with a focus on developing and deploying models in real-world applications
  • Proven experience in managing and mentoring teams of machine learning scientists or engineers
  • Expertise in machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for machine learning model development and deployment
  • In-depth knowledge of modern ML and AI techniques, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and natural language processing
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of applied scientists and machine learning engineers
  • Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for machine learning initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Oversee the entire ML lifecycle, from problem definition, data collection, and research to model deployment and monitoring
  • Ensure alignment of machine learning projects with overall business objectives and key performance metrics
  • Design and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure robust data pipelines and scalable infrastructure for model training and deployment
  • Lead the effort to move ML models from research into production, ensuring models are scalable, efficient, and reliable
  • Optimize and improve the performance of existing machine learning models
  • Partner with product managers and business leaders to understand key challenges and translate business problems into machine learning solutions
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate machine learning solutions into production systems
  • Foster collaboration between teams, promoting a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment such as a tech startup or a highly innovative enterprise
  • Strong understanding of MLOps practices and familiarity with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for model deployment
  • Experience in specialized areas such as computer vision, NLP, or reinforcement learning
