Summary

Join Wealthsimple's Tax Operations team as a detail-oriented individual to support timely and accurate client tax reporting. Prepare, reconcile, and validate annual tax slips and reports, ensuring compliance with CRA and other regulations. Manage day-to-day operations of tax functions, test and validate tax slip data, and review client tax documentation. Investigate and process tax slip amendments and corrections. Collaborate with other teams to address inquiries and support system enhancements. Perform monthly security pricing reviews and maintain internal process documentation. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of experience in financial services, accounting, or tax operations (co-op/internship experience accepted)
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage repetitive tasks accurately
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, especially during peak tax reporting season
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, reconcile, and validate annual tax slips and registered plan reports, including T3, T5, NR4, RL-3, RL-16, as well as RRSP, TFSA, and FHSA contribution and withdrawal reporting, in compliance with CRA, Revenu Québec, and other regulatory requirements
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of tax and book of record functions to ensure all client tax reporting and filings are accurate, timely, and compliant
  • Test and validate tax slip data prior to filing, ensuring accuracy, completeness, proper formatting, and alignment with current regulatory standards
  • Review client tax documentation (e.g., W-8BEN, W-9, and related forms) to confirm tax residency classification, ensure correct application of withholding tax (including U.S. withholding), and maintain appropriate documentation as required by regulatory authorities
  • Investigate and process tax slip amendments, income reclassifications, and corrections to previously filed reports
  • Review and distribute monthly client custodian and performance statements, including annual CRM2 reports, ensuring consistency and data integrity
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Client Success teams to address tax slip and statement inquiries and support system enhancements through testing and feedback
  • Perform monthly security pricing reviews and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate valuation within internal systems
  • Maintain and continuously update internal process documentation, reconciliation checklists, and tax control logs to support audit readiness and operational transparency
  • Stay informed on changes to tax legislation, CRA/IRS guidance, and industry best practices, and share relevant updates with the broader team to ensure ongoing compliance and knowledge development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Canadian tax slip types (T3, T5, NR4,T5008, T5013 slips and MRQ equivalent RL slips) is an asset
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and knowledge on SQL and Jira is a plus
