Associate Lead VFX Tech Artist

Summary

Join Escape Velocity as an experienced VFX Tech Art Lead to contribute to pipeline development, performance optimization, and budget management. This Unreal Engine specialist role requires expertise in multiplayer action game development across various platforms. You will manage a team of technical artists, collaborate with other departments, and drive performance testing and optimization. The position demands proficiency in shaders, blueprints, Niagara, and scratchpad within UE4/5. Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in the games VFX or tech art, both console and mobile
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with managing a small team of developers
• Knowledge of current visual effects pipelines and techniques
• Experience working in UE4/5. Must have proficiency in shaders, blueprints, Niagara, and scratchpad
• A strong sense of ownership and craft success
• A passion for video games and a solid understanding of product goals

Responsibilities

• Manage and guide a team of skilled Technical Artists
• Collaborate with Tech Art, VFX and engineering departments to establish the vision for shippable performance targets, testing pipeline and technical practices to hit the quality bar for project release
• Handle performance profile testing and share insights/technical breakdowns to narrow down key target areas of optimization for VFX, shaders and lighting across different platforms
• Drive tools development and pipeline improvements proactively to support the shared vision
• Provide feedback, and training to others on the team. Build training resources
• Constantly seek out creative technical solutions and ways to improve the project in all aspects
