Summary

Join Pair Team as a Medical Director and play a pivotal role in supervising Nurse Practitioners, developing clinical policies, and collaborating with the Population Health team to achieve excellent patient outcomes for underserved communities. This fully remote position offers opportunities for in-person engagement, requiring travel for conferences and stakeholder meetings. You will report to the Chief Medical Officer and contribute to the company's clinical strategy. The role involves leading and mentoring clinical staff, ensuring value-based care targets are met, and serving as a clinical leader bridging expertise with operational needs. You will also cultivate relationships with health plans and community organizations to advance Pair Team's goals. This position is externally titled Associate Medical Director (Value-Based Care).

Requirements

  • Board certification in Family or Internal Medicine as a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), with an active and unrestricted medical license in California
  • 5+ years of clinical experience, including at least 2 years in leadership or supervisory roles, in safety-net settings
  • Proven ability to develop and implement clinical protocols and policies in a dynamic healthcare environment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including clinical, operations, growth and population health
  • A passion for serving vulnerable populations, including those experiencing homelessness, severe mental illness, or substance use disorders

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise our team of Nurse Practitioners and Physicians, providing clinical oversight and mentorship to drive high-quality patient care
  • Ensure Pair Team achieves its value-based cost-of-care and HEDIS targets by developing and executing new, evidence-based clinical protocols and policies in partnership with our Population Health team
  • Serve as a key clinical leader, bridging clinical expertise with operational needs and collaborating closely with behavioral health, nursing and care management leadership to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Partner with the Chief Medical Officer to inform clinical strategy and contribute to organizational growth
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex clinical questions from our front-line teams
  • Own and cultivate relationships with health plans, community organizations and other stakeholders, acting as a strategic partner to advance Pair Team's goals through impactful external engagement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in telehealth or technology-enabled care delivery models is a plus
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment that values autonomy and innovation
