Summary

Join Natera's Patient Experience Billing team as an Associate Patient Billing Analyst and contribute to optimizing patient billing processes. Analyze and improve billing workflows, enhance patient understanding of billing statements, and utilize data analytics to track key performance indicators. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure compliance and timely execution of projects. Develop and implement change management plans and training sessions for staff. This role is crucial for improving revenue cycle performance and streamlining billing procedures within the healthcare organization. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least two years of experience in healthcare billing or related fields.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle management, or process improvement roles
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with patient billing systems, medical coding, insurance claims, and healthcare reimbursement processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Process Review & Gap Analysis: Lead end-to-end assessments of current patient billing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligned with operational goals
  • Workflow Optimization Initiatives: Manage the planning and execution of billing process improvement projects. Develop and implement streamlined workflows to reduce errors, accelerate payment cycles, and improve revenue cycle outcomes
  • Patient-Focused Improvements: Design and manage initiatives aimed at enhancing patient comprehension of billing statements and payment options
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Oversee the use of data analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of billing process changes. Track KPIs, generate performance dashboards, and provide insights to leadership for continuous improvement
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams—including IT, finance, and compliance—and third-party vendors to ensure alignment on project goals and timely execution of billing-related initiatives
  • Change Management & Training: Develop change management plans and lead training sessions to ensure successful adoption of new billing procedures, tools, and best practices by staff
  • Compliance: Ensure patient billing practices comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and payor guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Slides); experience with revenue cycle management software preferred
  • Proximity to the Bay Area, CA, or Austin, TX, valued but not required
