Summary

Join Airbnb's Tax Accounting & Reporting Team as an integral member, collaborating with various departments and external consultants to ensure comprehensive state and local tax (SALT) compliance and reporting. You will oversee SALT income tax compliance and provision, manage global indirect tax accounting, and maintain SOX compliant controls. A typical day involves providing technical accounting guidance, managing forecasting, overseeing tax accounting and reserve analysis, supporting the state provision process, coordinating outsourced filings, and collaborating with cross-functional partners. Success in this role requires managing deadlines, minimizing risks, and delivering actionable insights. This US-remote eligible position requires 5+ years of relevant tax experience with a focus on US State and Local income tax accounting and compliance and deep knowledge of US GAAP/ASC 740/ASC 450 and US SALT laws. Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant tax experience with a focus on US State and Local income tax accounting and compliance
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP/ASC 740/ASC 450 and high-level understanding of US SALT laws
  • Experience with SOX 404 internal control requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results across multiple deadlines
  • Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing external consultants
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of clear, actionable reporting and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting guidance to the Global Indirect Tax team, ensuring accuracy of FAS5 reserves and out-of-pocket expense tracking
  • Manage the forecasting process for non-income taxes globally, reviewing regional team submissions and communicating key deliverables
  • Oversee tax accounting and reserve analysis for state and local taxes, including transient occupancy, sales and use, business and franchise, and property taxes
  • Support the state provision process, monitor relevant tax law changes, and review provision workpapers
  • Coordinate and review outsourced SALT tax filings, prepare and review PBCs, and manage state tax calendars and notice trackers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners—including policy, legal, and external advisors—to address ad hoc tax matters and support controversy needs

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Oracle and Alteryx is a strong plus
