This role involves maintaining and improving existing databases, developing new workflows, conducting data analysis, and brainstorming new bioinformatics features. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD or MSc in a relevant scientific discipline, along with experience in biological sciences and data processing. Requirements

  • PhD or MSc in biology, in bioinformatics, life sciences, or related scientific discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant bench experience in the biological sciences, either industry or education experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop strong business relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Natural curiosity for expanding scientific knowledge, and passion for helping scientists overcome their everyday challenges
  • Experience working with large datasets, preferably scientific databases
  • Proficient in data processing and wrangling tools such as Python, SQL, and Excel
  • Deep understanding of biological ontologies and experience leveraging major biological resources (e.g., KEGG, UniProt, Entrez) to curate, maintain and improve internal biological ontology databases
  • Demonstrated interest in data curation with exceptional attention to detail, including willingness to perform repetitive tasks focused on data curation
  • Drive and curiosity to identify new and alternative methods for automating and optimizing repetitive tasks, improving overall efficiency and data quality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain and improve our current bioinformatics ontology databases
  • Help maintain existing reagent mapping processes
  • Help develop new workflows to improve the efficiency of existing methods
  • Help with data analysis projects including customer-facing data analysis projects
  • Support the evaluation and preparation of data for new projects as the need arises
  • Brainstorm new bioinformatics features/tools/pipelines that directly impact the platform and user experience
  • Conduct ongoing research to improve data collection for existing and new applications
  • Provide scientifically informed recommendations for solutions

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:Immunological methods (in vitro, cell-based and analytical)Genetics (cloning, CRISPR, NGS, PCR) Analytical Biology (pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, LC/MS, SPR)In vivo studies (cell cultures, animal models)
