Associate Software Engineer

Summary

Join Raft, a customer-obsessed small business, as an Associate Software Engineer. You'll be an integral part of engineering teams, building foundational software skills while contributing to infrastructure. This role involves working with senior members, focusing on real-time data platform development for the Department of Defense. The platform aggregates data from numerous sensors, processes billions of events daily, and utilizes technologies like Kafka, Kafka Streams, Pinot, Java, Scala, and Kubernetes. The position is remote with potential for travel and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

• 0-2 years of software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with Java, Scala, or Kotlin
• Familiarity with Streaming functionality
• Experience in creating web-socket and RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with configuring CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Runners
• Familiarity with Kubernetes monitoring (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and logging (e.g., Fluentbit, Kibana, Loki) solutions
• Knowledge of AWS and/or other cloud computing solutions
• Curiosity about time series and geospatial data
• Collaborative team player willing to learn and grow
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, making technical decisions aligned with the team’s objectives
• Able to obtain a Security+ certification within the first 90 days of employment with Raft
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
• Able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Build foundational software skills while contributing to various components of our infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

• Active or previously active security clearance
• Hands on experience with time-series data in PostgreSQL or another SQL flavored database
