Summary
Join Distinguished Programs, a leading national insurance program manager, as an Associate Underwriter/Account Manager on our growing Inland Marine team. You will support expert underwriters in processing policy transactions, resolving broker inquiries, and collaborating on process improvements. This remote position requires 3+ years of commercial insurance underwriting assistant experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience with AAIS Inland Marine forms is highly preferred.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of commercial insurance underwriting assistant experience
- Aptitude for computer-based work; ability to achieve technical skills with Distinguished’s multiple software applications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work with a diverse team of individuals with an open mind and respectfulness
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to approach new situations with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Capability to adapt to changing responsibilities by taking on new tasks or adjusting workload
- Ability to anticipate and creatively solve problems
Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with assigned underwriters to process policy transactions such as endorsements, reporting, cancellations and reinstatements
- Work with and understand complex policies and complex policy transactions that may require manual calculation
- Resolve and triage incoming communication from brokers and lenders and answer routine inquiries that you have been trained to handle
- Partner with Operations to find ways to simplify work processes and ensure quality
- Coordinate and track ongoing service requests from brokers including endorsements, policy information, loss runs and other data
- Serve as back-up support to other team members on an as needed basis
- Follow up with brokers as needed for account information
- Work in a virtual team environment and attend virtual meetings
- Other duties as assigned
