Summary

Join 540 as a Back End Engineer to contribute to the development of new capabilities for an Air Force integration platform. You will design and build microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform. This role requires 5+ years of software development experience and proficiency in various technologies, including Kafka, RESTful APIs, and Google Docs. The position is remote within the continental US, with East Coast working hours and flexibility. Requirements

  • Possess 5+ years of software development experience
  • Have experience with Java
  • Have experience with Spring/Spring Boot
  • Have experience with Microservices using Kubernetes/Docker
  • Have experience with Kafka/Asynchronous Messaging
  • Have experience with Gradle/Maven
  • Be proficient in JSON
  • Be proficient in RESTful API design, building and consumption
  • Have the ability to learn quickly and become an expert on unfamiliar topics
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

Responsibilities

  • Develop microservices that interact with key components of the Air Force maintenance system
  • Build microservices that run on Google Kubernetes Engine using Kafka to produce highly-available, real-time data
  • Produce deliverable-quality design artifacts using Google Docs and Lucidchart (or similar tools)
  • Work independently with clients and as a team player
  • Take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience working on federal programs (particularly, Department of Defense)
  • Have an understanding of core principles of cloud architectures and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Have experience working with SOAP-based APIs
  • Have experience with API Gateways and API Management platforms such as Google Apigee
  • Have an understanding of various methods of authentication and authorization via APIs (PKI, OAuth2, JWT, LDAP, SAML, etc)
  • Have experience with OpenAPI (fka Swagger)
