Backend Developer

Summary

Join Encora's dynamic engineering team as a part-time consultant Backend Developer. You will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining server-side application components, including database management, API integration, and ensuring secure functionality. Collaboration with front-end developers and web designers is crucial for delivering a seamless user experience. You will also contribute to CI/CD pipelines for streamlined deployments. The role requires strong programming skills, experience with various technologies, and a solid understanding of OOP principles. Work is fully remote.

Requirements

• Possess strong knowledge and experience with Java, Typescript, Node.js, Python
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and design patterns
• Show familiarity with MongoDB and Docker
• Have proven experience designing and implementing scalable and secure APIs
• Be proficient in using Git and have experience with Bitbucket pipelines for continuous integration and deployment
• Show familiarity with AWS cloud services and microservices architecture
• Have experience working in an Agile environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality software iteratively
• Possess strong analytical and debugging skills to troubleshoot backend issues and optimize system performance
• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize server-side applications, ensuring high performance and scalability
• Create and manage databases, optimize queries, and troubleshoot performance issues
• Develop and maintain secure, reliable, and performant backend systems and APIs
• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs and integrate data from various backend services
• Maintain, expand, and scale our web application infrastructure to meet evolving needs
• Work closely with front-end developers and web designers to ensure consistency between the backend logic and the visual design
• Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD workflows to streamline development and deployment
• Create and maintain comprehensive software documentation, including code comments, API documentation, and system diagrams

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience with AWS for container orchestration
• Have experience with GraphQL or other advanced API technologies
• Have knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (IaC)
