Backend Developer

Summary

Requirements

• 5-10 years of PHP experience required
• 4+ years experience in web/app development
• 2+ years experience as a senior or lead on a team
• Strong knowledge of Laravel web framework and WordPress core
• Strong Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL and their declarative query languages

Responsibilities

• Taking a leadership position on a small but productive development team
• Working with the team to develop and maintain the full-stack web application
• Collaborating with other developers and project managers via an integrated product approach
• Ensuring the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Contributing to the definition of specifications for new features and owning their development
• Defining and implementing web services and the application backend microservices
• Implementing and/or assisting with the web UI/UX development
• Building efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
• Solving complex performance problems and architectural challenges
• Providing input on the design of scalable applications
• Fixing code to resolve defects, technical debt, and broken tests
• Making high-fidelity designs dynamic using Blade/PHP
• Guiding the team regarding constraints and best practices in a web platform environment
• Proactively identifying and solving bottlenecks, fixing bugs and performance issues
• Maintaining code quality, organization, and automatization
• Ensuring testing strategy is followed within the team
• Supporting the services you build in production
• Troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining the core product software and databases to ensure strong optimization and functionality

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient with Apache, Linux, JavaScript, and JQuery
• Ability to edit existing plugins for Wordpress
• Ability to write and build custom Wordpress plugins from scratch
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance
• Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
• Proficient in front-end technologies including Bootstrap Html 5 , Sass and css3
• Experience working with webhooks and building various REST API Integrations
• Experience utilizing API connector applications such as Zapier, IFTTT would be an asset
• Comfortable using team collaboration tools such as Asana, Jira,and Slack
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
• Experience with server setup and administration (AWS and Linode)

Salary Range: From $15,000 to $20,000 USD per year
