Backend Engineer

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 2+ years experience with data and backend experience
• Experience contributing to complex projects as part of a team
• Demonstrated experience in shipping high-quality code
• Solid understanding of API development principles and good API design, with a focus on data efficiency
• Collaborative attitude and a willingness to learn and take direction
• Problem-solving skills with an interest in tackling challenging data-related issues
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced, startup environment

Responsibilities

• Contribute to complex cross-functional projects focused on data pipelines and application performance
• Collaborate with Mobile, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Analytics, Product Management, and Customer Support to ensure a high-quality customer experience, particularly around data accuracy and availability
• Build and maintain our data pipelines with a focus on data retrieval and efficiency
• Contribute to the optimization of our APIs, data architecture, and infrastructure to support our growing customer base
• Contribute to and utilize our analytics and monitoring/observability tools to understand system behavior and identify areas for optimization
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement improvements in process, practice, and engineering culture centered around strong data foundations

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Python, SQL, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and TypeScript
• Experience with dbt
