Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer, you will design and maintain backend applications, manage databases within Azure cloud, define application states and data flows, and collaborate with engineers on database schemas. You will develop backend logic using TypeScript and Node.js, work with cloud infrastructure, participate in code reviews, and communicate with stakeholders. The role requires 5+ years of experience and proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, along with a strong understanding of database structures and cloud platforms (preferably Azure). Remote work is available for LATAM residents, or you can work in the Montevideo, Uruguay office.

Requirements

• Solid experience as a Backend Engineer or Software Engineer with a strong focus on data modeling and cloud environments
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
• Strong understanding of database structures, including Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, or other key/value stores
• Experience working in cloud platforms, preferably Azure (AWS/GCP also acceptable)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Self-starter with a structured and detail-oriented approach to development
• You will need excellent written and verbal English for clear and effective communication with the team
• We're looking for someone with 5+ years of experience in similar roles

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain backend applications with a focus on reliability and performance
• Structure and manage databases (Cosmos DB, key/value, or PostgreSQL) within Azure cloud
• Define and implement application states and data flows
• Collaborate with engineers to model and create efficient database schemas and tables
• Develop and maintain backend logic using TypeScript and Node.js
• Work closely with cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability and robustness
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of the system
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders about progress and technical decisions
