Summary

Join Mux as a Backend Software Engineer and build and manage scalable, highly available applications and services supporting product feature development and growing traffic. You will work on the Platform Experience team, ensuring a consistent and effective platform experience for customers. Responsibilities include developing user-facing features in Elixir and Go, building and scaling the billing and usage platform, working on identity and account management, and developing distributed notifications. The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of experience in production distributed systems and backend engineering, solid engineering fundamentals, and experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration. Elixir experience is a plus, but other languages are acceptable. The starting base pay is between $160K-$190K.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in production distributed systems & backend engineering
  • You’re a strong engineer comfortable working across multiple platforms and environments
  • Solid engineering fundamentals (CS degree a plus)
  • Track record of working on hard problems including job scheduling, concurrency, and scaling
  • Experience deploying complex applications on cloud platforms using a container orchestration platform, such as Kubernetes

Responsibilities

  • Work with your team to collaborate and execute on product goals and technical roadmap
  • Develop user-facing, product-focused features in our Elixir and Go backend services
  • Building and scaling our billing and usage platform that supports all Mux products
  • Working on identity and account management product features
  • Working on distributed notifications such as application webhooks and alerting features

Preferred Qualifications

  • Elixir experience is a big plus, but Go, Python, Ruby, Node, or other general-purpose programming languages are also great
  • Video experience is a plus but not required
