Backend Software Engineer

Summary

Join Canva's Help Content and Findability team and help redefine how the world experiences design. Requirements

• Have strong proficiency in Java, MySQL, ElasticSearch
• Have the ability to write performant, efficient code, including appropriate testing
• Enjoy working collaboratively with team members, communicating effectively, and taking ownership of projects and outcomes
• Have perfected the balance between big-picture thinking and nailing the details

Responsibilities

• Build efficient and reusable backend abstractions and systems
• Work closely with stakeholders and content designers to create world-class content structure and management
• Collaborate within and across teams to create wholistic solutions
• Identify and improve practices and methodologies for backend engineering
• Find opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new ideas and improvements
• Empower and mentor other engineers

• Creating innovative and enjoyable experiences that help large numbers of users solve problems and get back to designing as quickly as possible
