Backend Software Engineer

Summary

Join Clubhouse's Talk with New People squad as a Software Engineer, Backend! This remote-friendly role, open to US candidates, focuses on enhancing the live app's functionality to attract more users. You'll collaborate with founders, product, design, and data teams to build robust features. As a seasoned engineer (5+ years experience) proficient in Python and Java, with experience in PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, you'll lead development phases, from ideation to implementation. You'll be a key contributor to a fast-paced, innovative environment, building and shipping high-quality code. Requirements

• Have 5+ years of experience
• Have a strong command of relevant programming languages such as Python and Java
• Have experience with storage systems like PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
• Have a proven track record of designing and implementing performant backend systems at scale
• Have demonstrated capabilities to innovate and optimize at the same level
• Have led all phases of development including ideation, product specification, prototyping, designing and implementation
• Be proactive, resourceful, and enjoy highly autonomous environments
• Enjoy owning the technical implementation and architecture of the feature set owned by your team
• Work independently and understand how to efficiently prioritize and utilize your team to meet company goals
• Be a strong written and verbal communicator
• Be able to capture the essence of complex situations quickly and communicate them to technical and non-technical partners
• Like to build and ship and have a bias towards getting things done

Responsibilities

• Build and ship new services to meet critical product and business needs in a scalable and performant way
• Lead by example by producing high-quality work following best practices in quick timelines to improve our infrastructure and tooling
• Work closely with a talented group of engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to understand user problems and co-create product solutions
• Work closely with leadership to convert technical and product visions into tangible roadmaps
• Grow, teach, and improve rapidly
