Summary
Join Western Digital's research team as a scientist to explore novel solid-state and magnetic sensors for biological molecules. You will lead the electrical characterization and performance assessment strategy, establishing testing setups, defining procedures, and writing scripts. Collaborate with team members on sensor design and project direction. Your core responsibilities include designing experiments, conducting electrical measurements, analyzing data, and drawing actionable conclusions. Additional responsibilities involve generating intellectual property, publishing papers, and presenting at conferences. This role requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field and significant professional experience.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, physics, or related field and 4-5+ years of professional experience
- Expertise in electrical measurements in aqueous solutions
- Strong programming and scripting experience
- Proven ability to initiate and complete scientific studies
- History of publications in peer reviewed journals
- Strong electrical measurements, data analysis, and device physics skills
- Good collaboration and presentation skills
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a small research team exploring novel solid-state and magnetic sensors for biological molecules
- Drive and execute the strategy for electrical characterization and performance assessment of the sensors
- Establish the testing set up, defining testing procedures, & writing test scripts
- Work closely with other team members to drive decisions on sensor design and project directions
- Design experimental splits, carrying out electrical measurements, analyzing data, and determining actionable conclusions from the studies
- Generate intellectual property
- Publish academic papers
- Present at conferences
