Summary

Join MATRIX, a national company providing camps, logistics, and aviation management services, as an experienced Carpenter for our Spring/Summer season. You will play a key role in constructing and maintaining remote camps, working as part of a team and reporting to the Manager. This position requires a minimum of three years of experience in a construction field/camp position and a Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) certification. You must be proficient in framing, forming, finishing, and installation, as well as site clean-up and adhering to building codes. The ability to work independently, read blueprints, and maintain a high level of performance is essential. Successful candidates will be physically fit and able to work a rotation schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years working in a construction field/camp position
  • Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal)
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor
  • Ability to maintain a high level of performance over a 10 - 12 hour shift

Responsibilities

  • Framing, forming, finishing, and installation as needed
  • Preparation and site clean-up, including rubbish removal
  • Proficient with building code regulations as it relates to work-site building construction and repairs
  • Assist in the completion of all necessary documentation as per process / protocol to ensure cost effectiveness and budget allocation
  • Provide quality workmanship consistent with industry standards and stakeholder expectations
  • Understand the basics of reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Participate in daily Toolbox meetings
  • Support monthly worksite inspections
  • Perform tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures
  • Notify Manager of unsafe practices and unsafe environment
  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately
  • Actively participate as a high performing, team member

Preferred Qualifications

  • Standard First Aid Certification
  • WHIMS Certification
  • Previous experience working in remote camp setting
  • Proficient in all aspects of building repair and replacement
