Certified Medical Assistant - High-Volume Prior Authorizations

This fully remote position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with a 7 AM PST start time and a guaranteed 40-hour work week. The role requires a Medical Assistant Certification and significant experience with Athenahealth EMR, prior authorizations, and patient communication.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA) required
- Experiencing submitting prior authorization (PA) requests through covermymeds - bonus if you have experience submitting PA's for weight loss meds
- Experience with high volume PA submissions (25+ a day)
- Experiencing submitting PA's via phone to insurance companies
- 2+ years of current Athenahealth outpatient EMR experience required, 5+ years of overall EMR experience
- 2+ years experience updating patients on prior authorization process required
- 2+ experience submitting Medication Appeals required
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Demonstrate empathy and professionalism via all communication methods, including: phone, video, email, slack, text, and patient portal messages
- Complete a high volume of prior authorizations
- Perform clinical administrative functions within scope of certification
- Remain in compliance with HIPAA, and protect all patient health information (PHI) in accordance with Federal and state regulation
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant - huge plus if you have telehealth and/or remote work experience
