Summary

Join Zoic Studios, a Visual Effects company specializing in high-end visual effects, as a CG Supervisor with Houdini experience. This short-term position, with potential for extension, involves advising the VFX Supervisor/Creative Director on technical and creative aspects of 3D production. You will interpret creative needs, oversee 3D look development, manage teams, provide performance feedback, and attend various meetings. The role requires extensive experience in live-action VFX, expertise in Houdini and Maya/Vray, and a collaborative leadership style. The position offers a competitive weekly pay range of $2500-$3000, based on qualifications and experience. Location is ideally within the United States or Vancouver, Canada.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years experience within live action VFX
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a 3D Supervisor with a proven track record of delivering shows, driving methodology and leading teams of artists
  • Expert knowledge in Houdini
  • Expert knowledge in Maya, Vray
  • Working knowledge in Mari, Nuke
  • Experience in all aspects of the 3D Pipeline: modelling, texturing, shading, color theory (technical & creative), lighting and rendering experience
  • Ability to evaluate workload vs. resources and provide accurate delivery estimates
  • Collaborative leadership style; always working to achieve common goals in terms of delivery and quality
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication including conflict resolution, negotiation, note interpretation, creative to technical translation, technical to creative translation
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical, creative and interpersonal issues
  • Ability to adapt to changing priories or new technology / processes as required
  • Must provide up to date reel and resume showcasing listed skills
  • Reliable internet connection via ethernet and can work on Pacific Standard Time

Responsibilities

  • Advise on 3D workflow to aid VFX Supervisor/Creative Director and Producer in bidding and shot methodology planning
  • Interpret creative needs into actionable tasks. Identify refine and establish 3D workflow based on the needs of the show
  • Oversee the 3D look development of key shots/sequences in conjunction with 2D look dev leads and supervisors
  • Proactively communicate with relevant Supervisors and Production team members to ensure all necessary individuals and departments are aware of shot statuses and potential issues
  • Select, mentor, train and manage teams
  • Provide artist performance feedback to direct reports and management
  • Attend dailies, interviews, administrative and managerial meetings as required

Preferred Qualifications

Substance, Speedtree and Houdini/Mantra an asset

Benefits

$2500 - $3000 per week (based on qualifications and experience)
