Summary
Join Shift4 as the Chief Engineer, Mission Control, and lead the development and implementation of a new, company-wide system. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap, feature implementation, and team management of this critical platform. This role requires extensive experience in operational roles within industrial or financial technology companies, strong communication skills, and a passion for process improvement. You will work closely with the Director of Operations and executive leadership to ensure alignment between technical solutions and operational workflows. The position involves both technical work and leadership responsibilities, including on-console operation of the Mission Control Center. Success in this role will involve delivering high-value improvements at the enterprise level.
Requirements
- 10+ years of direct experience operating in a strategic, operations, or technical role within an industrial or financial technology company and managing individuals
- A passion for consistent improvement across large scale rollouts and a desire to see those implementations deliver high value at the enterprise level
- Highly competent communication skills, both written and verbal. You excel in distilling information from dense technical systems into concise and clear documentation, and have experience communicating those consolidations to an executive audience
- Experience interacting with data systems such as Labview, Tableau, or other graphical user interfaces
- Experience working directly with leadership members of operations or support teams in delivering measurable improvements through process implementation in an end to end capacity
Responsibilities
- Own the technical discovery, roadmap, and implementation of the Mission Control platform, including partnering with and communicating to Shift4 executives
- Report directly to the VP, Enterprise Systems to bring this vision to life
- Concept and implement new features and functionalities for Mission Control operators to utilize, and lead the technical development of those functions from design->operation
- Work hand in hand with the Director of Operations, Mission Control to align technical solutions with people oriented processes and operational workflows
- Develop standard operating procedures surrounding new data integrations, and properly define technical solutions to new systems as they are brought online
- Build and manage a talented team of technical engineers, properly create and manage the teamβs workflows, and be responsible for deliverables to the Enterprise Stakeholders
- Perform technical work as needed to support team or goals, such as development, technical writing, workflow design, and visualization of complex data streams
- Operator βon-consoleβ as the chief engineer as needed from our Center Valley Mission Control Center and remotely as required
- Design and implement communication methods, escalation strategies, quality assurance protocols, and response plans to ongoing business and technical issues that Mission Control will identify
- Identify new opportunities for Mission Control to implement automations that align with Shift4 business processes as well as future state programs such as Project Phoenix
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Degree in a relevant field
- Personal experience utilizing operational software systems, including Epsilon3, First Resonance ION, or a wholesale ERP such as Oracle Cloud or SAP
- Experience with real time, time series data and creation of workflows around data indicators
- Experience with operational fundamentals such as corrective action reporting, non-conformances, inventory management, and data governance
- Experience with one of the following platforms: Palantir Foundry, Mulesoft
- Experience in Launch Vehicle operations as a VC, GC, LC, or LD role within a Mission Control Center
