Summary

Join GiveDirectly as their Chief of Staff and play a pivotal role in supporting the CEO and senior leadership. You will optimize the CEO's effectiveness, lead special projects, drive organizational operating rhythms, and oversee internal communications. This senior-level position requires exceptional analytical, operational, and communication skills, along with a high tolerance for ambiguity and strong strategic judgment. The role offers exposure to executive decision-making and significant growth opportunities within a rapidly scaling organization. GiveDirectly offers competitive compensation, including a base salary and bonus, and a commitment to equitable pay. The location is flexible, with a preference for co-location in NYC but considering strong candidates in ET and GMT time zones.

Requirements

  • Operational & Execution Excellence: Combine meticulous attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture. Ensure follow through on the things that matter, and have a proven ability to own complex multi-stakeholder processes and drive execution
  • High-Tolerance for Ambiguity & Problem-Solving: Navigate uncertainty while staying highly attuned to stakeholder needs. Demonstrate the ability to self-start, and navigate challenges with limited direction
  • Communication & influence: Exceptional communication skills internally and externally, with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders, align cross-functional teams, and ensure clear, concise internal communications
  • Strategic Judgment & Analytical Decision-Making: Ability to synthesize complex information (including comfort with quant analysis), make high-quality decisions quickly, and proactively recommend solutions
  • Confidentiality & Trustworthiness: Handles sensitive and high-stakes information with discretion and sound judgment. Able to act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, represent their interests, and make independent decisions on their behalf when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Optimize CEO Effectiveness: Streamline decision-making, manage priorities, support communication and provide strategic counsel to maximize the CEOโ€™s focus and effectiveness on high-impact work
  • Lead Special Projects: Manage and deliver high stakes, time-bound initiatives to drive organizational results or improve organizational effectiveness
  • Drive Organizational Operating Rhythms: Own agenda-setting, preparation of and facilitation for leadership meetings, retreats, and planning processes to ensure cross-team coordination and goal execution
  • Lead Internal Communications: Oversee communication and comms strategies from the CEOs office to enhance alignment, reinforce values, foster collaboration, and increase transparency across the organization

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with some or all of the different parts of GiveDirectlyโ€™s business (organizational strategy & management, fundraising, cash programs, product, shared services) to inform your judgment
