Summary

Join the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) and contribute to impactful research on nonproliferation issues. Work on databases, website publications, and analytical briefs related to weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Develop country profiles, collate images, and create case studies of illicit trade. Maintain and update a WordPress site focused on trading compliance. Gain valuable experience in a critical field while working 10-15 hours per week. The position offers hourly pay and opportunities for professional development. Successful candidates must be enrolled MIIS students located in the U.S.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in MIIS classes
  • Be located in the U.S
  • Excellent writing and analysis skills
  • General knowledge of WMD nonproliferation issues
  • Knowledge of and experience in conducting scholarly research

Responsibilities

  • Work on databases, website publications, fact sheets, and analytical issue briefs
  • Geolocation of WMD facilities worldwide
  • Development of country and entity profiles
  • Collate images of missiles and other WMD-relevant objects while tracking sources and copyright restrictions
  • Develop case studies of illicit trade and procurement based on court cases, etc
  • Maintain and provide content for a WordPress site related to trading compliance (export controls, sanctions, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Science background
  • Experience with social media management
  • Familiarity with computer languages
