Summary
Join StraighterLine, a leading provider of affordable online courses, as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help (re)develop high-quality college-level course content for 2025. You will collaborate with a team, innovating curriculum, course assessment, assignment development, and student interaction. Several courses across various disciplines are available for revision. This is a 1099 contract position offering hourly pay. While not a path to full-time employment, successful SMEs may have the opportunity to become contract faculty graders. Apply specifying the course(s) you wish to be considered for.
Requirements
- Hold a Master’s degree or higher in the course discipline
- Possess teaching experience in the course discipline
- Have experience in curriculum design & development for college-level courses
- Demonstrate patience with deadline-driven projects that may warrant fast turnaround and iterative development
- Be able to work effectively both collaboratively and independently, throughout all phases of a project
- Possess excellent organizational skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to scaffold project work within multiple (and sometimes competing) deadlines
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to disseminate course-related information to a wide range of professional audiences (academic and non-academic) and across multiple departments
- Be familiar with the Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
Responsibilities
- Assist the Academics team with the (re)development of high-quality, evidence-based, and engaging content across the college-level course catalog for 2025
- Engage with the team and innovate with multiple creative components related to curriculum and course assessment & design
- Develop assignments and create intentional student interactions/pulse points
Preferred Qualifications
- Be familiar with online learning theories, andragogy/pedagogy, Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction, and promising practices related to building engaging and interactive asynchronous learning experiences
- Be familiar with learning management systems (LMS)
- Possess flexibility to pivot, if/when a project changes according to design iterations
- Have evidence-based instructional design (ID) skills
- Have college-level and online teaching experience
Benefits
- Hourly pay at the rate of $35.00 an hour
- Potential opportunity to become a 1099 contract faculty grader in the course, once launched
