Summary
Join StraighterLine's Academics team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to contribute to the (re)development of high-quality online college courses for 2025. You will engage in curriculum and course assessment & design, assignment development, and creating intentional student interactions. The role involves revising courses across various disciplines. Eligibility requires a Master's degree or higher in the relevant discipline, teaching experience, and curriculum design experience. The work is primarily asynchronous and independent, with occasional meetings and email communication. Compensation is hourly at $35.00/hour as a 1099 contractor. There's a potential opportunity to become a 1099 contract faculty grader for the course after launch.
Requirements
- Hold a Master’s degree or higher in the course discipline
- Possess teaching experience in the course discipline
- Have experience in curriculum design & development for college-level courses
- Demonstrate patience with deadline-driven projects that may warrant fast turnaround and iterative development
- Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently, throughout all phases of a project
- Possess excellent organizational skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to scaffold project work within multiple (and sometimes competing) deadlines
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to disseminate course-related information to a wide range of professional audiences (academic and non-academic) and across multiple departments
- Be familiar with the Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
Responsibilities
- Engage in curriculum and course assessment & design
- Develop assignments
- Create intentional student interactions/pulse points
- Revise courses across various disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
- Be familiar with online learning theories, andragogy/pedagogy, Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction, and promising practices related to building engaging and interactive asynchronous learning experiences
- Be familiar with learning management systems (LMS)
- Possess flexibility to pivot, if/when a project changes according to design iterations
- Possess evidence-based instructional design (ID) skills
- Have college-level and online teaching experience
