The role involves drafting policies, reviewing risks, conducting monitoring activities, and advising other teams on compliance matters. Requirements

  • Have worked independently or un supervised in a similar Legal, Risk or Compliance role with personal and commercial lines insurance products - Motor, Breakdown, Home, Medical or Business insurance
  • Deep working knowledge of all insurance related areas of the FCA handbook inc Consumer Duty
  • Compliance monitoring expertise: proven experience in designing, carrying out, and reporting on compliance monitoring activities, with the ability to identify gaps, escalate issues, and oversee remedial actions
  • Detailed understanding of wholesale and retail insurance business and the risks which attach to these products
  • Collaborative: strong team ethic and ability to build and sustain strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Support the business by ensuring INSHUR adheres to legal and regulatory obligations as a regulated Insurance intermediary and Managing General Agent (MGA)/Coverholder
  • Play a key role in implementing our compliance strategy and maintaining high-quality service for stakeholders
  • Collaborates with all levels of the organisation to provide compliant, business-sensitive solutions in a variety of areas, including
  • Frameworks, policies and procedures: drafting as well as developing and implementing
  • Compliance risks and controls: reviewing and developing risks and controls
  • Compliance monitoring: designing and carrying out regular monitoring activities to assess adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies, reporting findings, and ensuring remedial actions are implemented
  • Ongoing support: to the first line of defence regarding our compliance obligations
  • Compliance strategy and plans: support in the orderly running of activities and products to ensure that they adhere to all applicable guidelines and regulations
  • Providing advice: to the insurance, claims and marketing teams on compliance requirements
  • Assisting: in preparing MI and reports as and when necessary
  • Other: regulatory and compliance requirements as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of corporate risk and compliance requirements: in a business scenario with particular reference to insurance start-ups and or digital verticals or Knowledge of and interest in the insurtech environment
  • A continual learner: you want to know all there is about the industry, customers, other teams, and marketing best practices
  • Succinct and engaging: able to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand language
  • Adapts: well to constant change and is able to see the bigger picture, yet understand the details
