Summary

The job is for a Content Lead of Design focusing on Elementary Reading Initiatives at Instruction Partners. The role involves program design, quality and innovation, project management, and internal training and support. The candidate should have relevant experience in elementary reading instruction, coaching, and curriculum design, with a focus on grades 3-5.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years as an elementary reading teacher
  • 2+ years as an administrator or instructional coach, with a record of success achieving clearly-defined outcomes and improving student learning
  • Record of success achieving student learning as a teacher, instructional coach and/or administrator
  • Deep expertise in grades 3-5 literacy instruction, inclusive of word recognition (both effectively supporting unfinished learning in K-2 foundational skills AND supporting students to mastery of grade-level word recognition standards) and language comprehension
  • Understanding of the role language development plays in supporting multilingual learners
  • Experience designing curriculum aligned professional learning experiences and/or coaching and implementation support plans for teachers and leaders in an arc of coherent programming toward outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Build core tools and frameworks, including internal team and training support, needed to implement the ERI in grades 3-5
  • Work collaboratively with the SD and Leads, Design, Director and Lead, Multilingual Learners Support, and curriculum providers to design and test curriculum-specific training and support materials aligned to the overall initiative
  • Use the liberatory design process to solve-problems creatively and to shift the relationship between those who hold power to design and those impacted by design
  • Partner with the SD and AD, ERI Design & Implementation to prepare to field test prototyped tools, reflect on key insights from tests, and determine implications on how tools are finalized
  • Plan and manage design projects strategically to deadlines
  • Reflect, problem solve and act upon design challenges that arise using input from internal and external stakeholders
  • Actively observe and then prepare for and lead internal learning meetings to monitor and continuously improve the implementation of ERI in both the short- and long-term, in collaboration with SD-Elementary Reading Design & Implementation, Director-ML Support, and our internal Research & Development team
  • Support the SD and DIS, Implementation in preparation for work with districts and schools and by adding capacity on content-specific partner questions, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching teachers and/or school leaders to outcomes is strongly preferred
  • Experience with liberatory design, human-centered design, etc. is preferred
  • Experience in project design and project management that requires a great deal of ambiguity with availability to work within  and lead through complex contexts
  • Experience building positive relationships with diverse team members and stakeholders
