Summary

Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member and share your expertise by teaching online courses to adult learners. You will utilize online technology and resources to deliver engaging and timely instruction. This part-time role requires a commitment to student success and adherence to university policies. Responsibilities include course teaching using the eCollege platform, providing timely feedback to students, and maintaining availability for student interaction. Faculty members may also participate in residencies and contribute to research. Compensation varies based on factors such as course type and experience.

Requirements

  • Possess a DNP or PhD in Nursing or a closely related field (or recognized by a country’s Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education)
  • Have at least 1 year of current practice experience as a PMHNP
  • Possess an RN and APRN License in 1 of the 50 states (Minnesota license preferred)
  • Be willing to acquire a Minnesota RN and APRN license
  • Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, including keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Have reliable Internet access and alternate access in case of primary access unavailability
  • Possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of [school specific], including experience in the practice of [field of study]
  • Demonstrate a commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Demonstrate teaching, advising and mentoring skills; commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty; excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
  • Be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs
  • Maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue teaching at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University

Responsibilities

  • Receive specific training from Walden University in teaching techniques, use of the eCollege platform, university policies, procedures, and degree programs, socialization into Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity of student work (including use of www.turnitin.com), and research supervision of theses and dissertations
  • Teach assigned courses using the eCollege platform, interacting with students within the platform
  • Post timely responses to student questions within 48 hours, in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other established criteria
  • Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions, providing feedback and grades through Blackboard
  • Maintain reasonable accessibility to students outside the course discussion board, providing substantive feedback on assignments and postings
  • Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, and/or other appropriate documents
  • Attend Residencies (domestically or internationally, optional for part-time faculty), teaching intensives and colloquia, and facilitating school and university-wide discussions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with all policies and standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have 1+ years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
  • Have 1+ years of online or technology-enabled instruction experience
  • Have experience with distance learning

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
