Summary

Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member and share your expertise by teaching online courses to adult learners. You will utilize online technology and resources to deliver engaging and timely instruction. Responsibilities include course teaching using the eCollege platform, responding to student inquiries within 48 hours, and providing feedback. Faculty members may be required to participate in residencies. Compensation varies based on factors such as course type, experience, and location. Walden offers additional opportunities such as dissertation committee chair positions and research reviewing.

Requirements

  • Possess a PhD in the field of study or a closely related field (or recognized by a country’s Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education)
  • Have 1 year of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
  • Have at least 1 year of current practice experience as a PMHNP
  • Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, including keyboard, pointing device, and monitor
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Have reliable internet access and alternate access in case of primary access issues
  • Possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field
  • Demonstrate a commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students in a distance learning environment
  • Possess excellent teaching, advising, mentoring, leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
  • Be appropriately credentialed and possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education
  • Maintain licenses and certifications to continue teaching at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Receive specific training from Walden University in teaching techniques, use of the electronic learning platform, policies, procedures, and degree programs
  • Teach assigned courses using the eCollege platform, interacting with students through the platform's discussion boards
  • Respond to student questions within 48 hours as per the faculty handbook
  • Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions, providing feedback and grades through Blackboard
  • Be reasonably accessible to students outside the course discussion board, providing substantive feedback
  • Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information, and/or other appropriate documents
  • Attend Residencies (domestically or internationally, optional for part-time faculty), teaching intensives and colloquia, and facilitating discussions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with all policies and standards

Have experience with distance learning

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter
  • Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
