Join Walden University as a Faculty Member and contribute to our diverse community of adult learners. This role primarily involves teaching blended academic year in residence (BAYR) courses online using the Blackboard platform. Responsibilities include engaging with students asynchronously and synchronously, grading assignments, answering questions, and delivering two synchronous sessions per quarter. Travel to Minneapolis, MN for a 7-day in-person component is required. Faculty receive training in teaching techniques, platform use, and Walden University policies. Additional opportunities include teaching at residencies, mentoring doctoral students, and participating in dissertation committees, with additional stipends available. The position requires a doctoral-level psychologist license and significant experience in the field.
Requirements
- Possess a Doctoral level Psychologist license
- Earn a doctorate in the field of study or a closely related field
- Have a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of Psychology, including experience in the practice of Professional Psychology (Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or School Psychology)
- Maintain licenses and certifications to continue teaching at Walden University
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
- Have an adequate computer, keyboard, and monitor to handle the electronic learning platform
- Be able to use Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), online meeting software (Teams and Zoom), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
- Have reliable internet access and alternate access in case of primary access becoming unavailable
Responsibilities
- Teach BAYR courses using the Blackboard platform
- Engage with students in asynchronous discussion boards
- Grade assignments and answer student questions
- Deliver two synchronous sessions per quarter
- Respond to student questions within 48 hours
- Teach BAYR courses requiring asynchronous, synchronous, and in-person instruction
- Provide in-person instruction for approximately 4-5 hours per day during the 7-day in-person component
- Travel to Minneapolis, MN for the in-person component of BAYR courses
- Participate in doctoral dissertation committees
Preferred Qualifications
- Have three to five years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
- Have two years or more of online or technology-enabled instruction experience
- Have two years or more of student research mentoring experience
- Have experience administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments
- Have experience with a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions
- Be committed to advocating for the learning and development needs of adult students in a distance learning environment
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter
