Summary

Join Walden University as a Faculty Member and contribute to educating adult learners online. Faculty members utilize online technology and resources to effectively impart knowledge and provide feedback to students. Responsibilities include grading assignments, participating in discussions, responding to emails, and using technology to enhance the learning experience. New faculty receive training in online teaching techniques, the university's learning platform, and Walden's culture. Course assignments are managed through Blackboard, requiring regular online presence and timely responses to student inquiries. Successful candidates must hold appropriate credentials, possess an earned doctorate, and have prior teaching experience in higher education.

Requirements

  • Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, work currently as a FNP, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs
  • Faculty Members must maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Faculty Members are also expected to maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University
  • Evidence of current RN and APRN license in te state of Arizona is required
  • All NP Faculty are also required to obtain RN and APRN licensure in the state of Minnesota and provide evidence of current Advanced Practice certification before being hired as a Nurse Practitioner Faculty at Walden University
  • Earned Doctorate
  • A record of professional scholarly contributions to their field of specialization
  • A minimum of one year experience of teaching in higher education
  • Current clinical experience in NP practice
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, team, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Board Certified FNP

Responsibilities

  • Educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications
  • Grade assignments
  • Participate in discussions
  • Respond to student emails
  • Use technology designed to enhance the learning experience for students
  • Be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days/wk
  • Post responses to student questions within 48 hrs
  • Faculty members are assigned courses, which are taught using Blackboard, and are responsible for interacting with students within Blackboard
  • Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24 hrs/day, 7 days/wk
  • The university suggests regular and predictable availability, such as online office hours or regular online chats; office hours may be required based on program or college policy

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience, preferred online teaching experience, but not required

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
