Summary
Join our Finance and Accounting team as a Controller! This remote position, ideally located in the Denver metro area, offers the opportunity to lead and develop a growing accounting team. You will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, create financial forecasts, and advise the executive team. The role requires strong leadership, financial management expertise, and a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively. A competitive salary and benefits package are offered.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
- 7+ years of accounting experience is required
- Experience as a senior level accounting or finance manager required
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Ability to financially manage multi-state operations
- In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance, and other regulatory matters
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with peers
- Highly developed multi-tasking skills with a proven ability to work in high stress situations
- Highly developed sense of urgency and a commitment to superior customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills, including ability to develop and grow a team
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (or related software), accounting software; modern βCloud Based ERPβ experience
Responsibilities
- Serve as an advisor in finance and accounting matters to the executive team for strategic planning purposes
- Develop department strategy and goals that align with business objectives
- Create forecast models as part of the organizationβs planning efforts
- Identify, innovate and implement business processes that improve the department's efficiency and capacity to scale
- Manage all sides of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, commissions, and cost accounting
- Provide strong leadership to the accounting department, to include development and performance conversations
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions to ensure accuracy
- Maintain reporting systems for financial budgeting, and forecasting
- Prepare for and conduct various types of audits including but not limited to financial, systems, tax, and compliance
- Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Ensure all state tax and licensing requirements are adhered to, and maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Work with third party vendors to mitigate organization risk
- Provide effective communication with internal and external entities
- Operate with a high level of urgency and maximize productivity in the department
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) is highly preferred
- Experience working with a Private Equity Propco preferred
