Summary

Join Oklo's team as a Core Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer, analyzing fluid flow and heat transfer within reactors. You will contribute to the development, qualification, and validation of modeling methods for coolant flow. Responsibilities include modeling core thermal-hydraulic behavior using various codes, developing analysis methods, automating tools, collaborating with design teams, and documenting work. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical field and proficiency in thermal-hydraulics analysis. Oklo offers competitive pay, flexible time off, equity, 401k, health insurance, FSA, and flexible work hours. This position requires immediate filling.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's, Masters, or PhD in a technical field, such as nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering
  • Possess proficiency with thermal-hydraulics (thermal fluids) analysis methods
  • Demonstrate core competencies in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics first principles
  • Have experience with intermediate-fidelity (e.g., porous body and correlation-based) models for heat transfer and fluid flow
  • Have experience with numerical methods for heat transfer and fluid flow problems
  • Have experience with data processing (e.g., pre-processing, post-processing, scripting)

Responsibilities

  • Model core thermal-hydraulic behavior using one-dimensional systems codes such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1 or SAM
  • Model core thermal-hydraulic behavior using subchannel codes such as DASSH, or MOOSE-Subchannel
  • Develop methods to analyze core thermal-hydraulic behavior at steady-state and during transients
  • Develop and utilize analysis methods that efficiently and effectively build confidence in a design
  • Automate, verify, and validate modeling and simulation tools in support of analyses
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define design requirements, and provide technical feedback to quick-iterating design teams
  • Document work using modern tools and techniques, and write well-written, thoughtful technical reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess fluency with Python
  • Have experience with CI/CD computing environments
  • Have experience with reactor systems codes, such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1, SAM, RELAP, TRACE, or GOTHIC
  • Have experience with qualification and validation of analyses
  • Have experience with subchannel analysis codes, such as DASSH, MOOSE-Subchannel, COBRA-TF, or similar
  • Have experience with high-fidelity fluid dynamics analysis

Benefits

  • Competitive pay
  • Flexible time off
  • Equity
  • 401k
  • Health insurance
  • FSA
  • Flexible work hours
