Summary

Join Western Digital as the Corporate Vice President of ASIC development, leading a global team of 500+ engineers. This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in IP development, SOC design, and semiconductor chip productization. You will provide strategic leadership, implement best practices, drive cutting-edge ASIC design, and foster a collaborative team culture. The position demands deep technical expertise in ASIC design and development, along with strong leadership and communication skills. You will oversee the end-to-end development of ASIC products, manage vendor relationships, and drive talent acquisition and retention.

Requirements

  • Masters or PHD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in a senior role within a semiconductor product company
  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience in ASIC development with a focus on IP, SOC design and productization with last 5 years in Sr management role
  • Demonstrated delivery of large-scale ASIC projects and productization
  • Deep technical expertise and hands on experience in ASIC design and development with EDA workflows, including RTL design, digital IP integration, verification, HW emulation, DFT, and physical design
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional and global teams
  • Experienced working in fast paced, innovative environment with focus on delivering high quality products

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to global ASIC teams, aligning departmental goals with broader objectives of business unit
  • Identify and implement industry best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance the productivity and quality of the ASIC development process
  • Driving the development of cutting-edge ASIC design ensuring they meet or exceed market requirements and industry standards. Evaluate WD ASIC IP portfolio and set the direction for develop internally vs procure externally. Develop and maintain a long term view of IP and SOC roadmap in line with industry trends and standard bodies
  • Raise the awareness of competitiveness of our ASIC organization compared to the industry
  • Understand the legacy of successful ASIC organization and champion the transformation by introducing and integrating modern development techniques and workflow
  • Foster a cohesive team culture promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement encouraging team to explore new ideas and technologies Establish a baseline and set targets for each functional ASIC team to drive continuous improvement
  • Oversee the end-to-end development of ASIC products including IP development, SOC design, and productization meeting the committed budget and schedule. Set operational reviews of ASIC functions on consistent basis to ensure proper level of details are being tracked and managed for successful delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASICs into final products. Manage Foundry, EDA tools vendor, IP vendors relationships to ensure smooth deliveries into the design and product cycle
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of ASIC engineers and designers. Drive talent acquisition and retention efforts to build a world class ASIC development team
