Summary

Join the Wormhole Foundation as a Cryptoeconomics Researcher and contribute to the development of blockchain interoperability technologies. You will architect systems and protocols to ensure the efficient operation of the decentralized network, focusing on enhancing decentralization and the trustless ZK roadmap. This role involves leveraging research in auction design, exploring staking mechanisms, and designing systems for integration with new L1/L2s. You will actively participate in the protocol's lifecycle, from ideation to execution, collaborating with engineering teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in blockchain mechanisms, DeFi primitives, and financial modeling, along with excellent technical communication and data analysis skills. Remote work is offered, with a preference for candidates in the Americas or European time zones (excluding the United States).

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of mechanisms and policies in existing blockchains, with strong opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of existing mechanisms
  • Excellent knowledge of major DeFi primitives (AMMs, bridges, oracles, etc)
  • Excellent technical communication skills
  • Strong finance background
  • Experience in statistical modeling and ability to work with large datasets
  • Ability to build financial and valuation models
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools like Python, R, or SQL

Responsibilities

  • Architect systems and protocols that ensure the efficient operation of our decentralized network facilitating cross-chain messaging
  • Focus on enhancing decentralization and Wormhole’s trustless ZK roadmap
  • Leverage research in auction design to regulate transaction spam
  • Explore recent trends in staking to ensure economic security
  • Design systems that integrate with new L1/L2s in an efficient and scalable manner
  • Explore applications of Wormhole messaging in cross-chain protocol design
  • Be involved throughout the protocol's lifecycle, from ideation and design conception to guiding engineering teams on testing and execution
