Summary

The job description is for a Cultural Resources Specialist who will lead team members in understanding and implementing compliance with cultural resource-related statutes, conduct NHPA Section 106 consultations, evaluate properties for eligibility on the National Register of Historic Places, and support multidisciplinary teams in preparing cultural resource sections of NEPA documents. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Archeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a related field, 2 to 8 years of relevant experience, and meeting the Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualification Standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a related field
  • 2 to 8 years of relevant experience, specifically including experience in cultural resource management
  • Must meet the Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualification Standards
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead team members in understanding and implementing compliance with cultural resource-related statutes, regulations, and executive orders, including but not limited to the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA)
  • Lead NHPA Section 106 consultations with local, state, federal, and Tribal stakeholders and conduct related Tribal outreach
  • Evaluate properties for eligibility on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)
  • Support or work within multidisciplinary teams in preparing the cultural resource sections of National Environmental Policy Act documents, including Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements
  • Foster positive working relationships within ERG and with State Historic Preservation Officers and clients
  • Lead various research tasks, technical writing, and other cultural resource-related tasks
  • Assist with various aspects of projects such as tracking budgets and schedules, monitoring scopes, facilitating meetings, coordinating deliverables, and communicating with clients
  • Perform desktop-based research and report development and conduct occasional site visits
  • Assist with developing and implementing cultural resource management programs for federal agencies
  • Analyze archeological and architectural resources within defined areas
  • Perform historical research and records searches

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have experience performing and/or managing Phase I, II, and III investigations
  • Ideal candidates will have some project management experience, including developing project schedules budgets and meeting client goals
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with Federal, state, and/or local consultation and coordination for infrastructure projects
  • Ideal candidates will have the background and technical understanding of cultural and historic resources, water quality, marine and ocean resources, and/or visual resources

Benefits

$50,000 - $80,000 a year
