Summary

Join Pythian, a leading provider of strategic database and analytics services, as a Cyber Security Analyst. This 12-month maternity leave replacement role involves monitoring and responding to IT security alerts and threats, detecting and mitigating vulnerabilities in Pythian's IT systems, and ensuring the security of business-critical IT systems. You will investigate and respond to security incidents, perform vulnerability assessments, conduct daily security checks, evaluate and implement security controls, stay updated on IT security trends, and participate in the incident response process. This role requires strong network and cloud security fundamentals, experience with EDR/XDR or antimalware tools, familiarity with vulnerability exposure management and SIEM tools, and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Network security fundamentals
  • Cloud Security fundamentals (experience with AWS and/or GCP security best practices would be considered an asset)
  • Experience with EDR/XDR or antimalware tools
  • Familiarity with vulnerability exposure management tools such as Tenable.io
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools such as SumoLogic, DataDog, or Splunk
  • Familiarity with Identity Access Management platforms such as OneLogin or Okta
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the security of business-critical IT systems under the control of IT Ops including networks, servers and infrastructure services, and end-user systems
  • Investigate and respond to internally raised security tickets and incidents
  • Perform monthly vulnerability assessments, record and analyze results, suggest mitigating action and track until completion
  • Performing daily security checks consistently and strictly according to procedures; conduct initial analysis, document your findings, and escalate where required
  • Evaluating, recommending, and implementing security controls and solutions for present and future IT systems
  • Staying up-to-date with current IT Security trends including applicable regulatory requirements
  • Being subscribed to well-known industry IT Security alert lists (e.g. US-CERT) and reviewing them in a timely manner
  • Auditing of Pythian IT Systems (this may include vulnerability assessments and pentesting on an ongoing basis according to prior approved scopes)
  • Creating security reports
  • Recommending improvements to IT Security processes and policies
  • Participating in the incident response process

Preferred Qualifications

Certification(s) such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or similar would be considered an asset
