Data Engineer

Summary

Join our team as a Data Engineer and contribute to a cloud-based conservation analytics platform. This long-term, 100% remote contract position requires proficiency in Postgres database engineering, supporting open-source technologies, and ideally, experience with geospatial scientific data. You will develop and manage a performant Postgres database, develop complex back-end queries, and implement ETL jobs and data pipelines in an AWS environment. The role demands significant experience with PostgreSQL, data tuning, and permissions management, along with excellent communication skills and experience with Git. Public Trust clearance is required.

Requirements

• Proficiency in data engineering concepts, including ETL processing, data warehousing, schema design and optimization/data modeling
• Overall 6 years of experience
• 3 years of experience using PostgreSQL to support high performant data analytics platform
• 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL data tuning, permissions management
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience leveraging Git as a code repository
• Candidate Must able to obtain Public Trust

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage performant Postgres database to support conservation analytics platform
• Develop complex back-end queries using Postgres and/or PostGIS
• Implement and manage ETL jobs and data pipelines in an AWS environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with NRCS conservation datasets
• Experience leveraging PostGIS for geospatial integration and automation
• Experience with QGIS and ESRI for visualizing geospatial data
• Experience publishing services and creating web mapping applications using open-source web mapping or ESRI web mapping platforms
• Experience in FME model development
• Experience in Python
• Experience with Liquibase or any equivalent database deployment tool
• Familiarity with Visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI
• SAFe certification or experience working in an agile environment
