Data Engineer

Summary

You will design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, focusing on creating impactful dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective data solutions. Responsibilities include designing data models, developing Power BI dashboards, building ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data quality, and optimizing performance. You will also provide support and documentation for data solutions. Leverage your Azure data service knowledge to build scalable and efficient solutions. This role requires expertise in Power BI, DAX, tabular models, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, or similar role with a strong focus on data visualization and reporting
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Power BI including data modeling, report development, and administration
• Very good expertise in DAX and in working with tabular models
• Prooven experience in analyzing and resolving PowerBI performance issues
• Strong experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes using tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory, or similar
• Solid understanding of relational databases and strong SQL skills
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical data solutions
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Design and Develop Data Models: Create and optimize robust data models within Power BI and other relevant data platforms to support complex reporting and analytical requirements
• Power BI Dashboard Development: Lead the end-to-end development of interactive and visually appealing Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring data accuracy, performance, and user-friendliness
• ETL/ELT Pipeline Development: Build, maintain, and optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes from various source systems into our data warehouse/data lake
• Data Quality & Governance: Implement and enforce data quality checks and governance best practices to ensure the reliability and integrity of our data assets
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with business users, analysts, and other teams to gather reporting requirements, provide technical guidance, and deliver data solutions that meet their needs
• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of Power BI reports and underlying data models to ensure efficient data retrieval and responsiveness
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models, and Power BI solutions
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide support for existing data solutions and Power BI reports, troubleshooting issues and implementing timely resolutions
• Azure Advantage: Utilize your knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage) to build scalable and efficient data solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks)
• Experience with other data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense) is a plus
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data manipulation
