Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience in a product focused environment
  • Worked with high volume heterogeneous data across distributed systems
  • Experience building cloud-based data pipelines e.g. using GCP or AWS
  • Deep knowledge of data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques
  • Basic understanding of the Bitcoin protocol, including how the blockchain and mempool work
  • An understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience defining and building infrastructure to serve a wider product and engineering organization
  • Resourcefulness, pragmatism and roll-up the sleeves mentality
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Able to balance both short term and long term initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and empower data analysts by building the pipelines and tooling needed to effectively generate data-based insights
  • Work with other data team members to continually improve our data infrastructure
  • Work cross functionally with stakeholders across the organization to deliver value and serve the needs of our aggressive product roadmap
  • Educate the business on best practices and continually raise the bar when it comes to the production, application and maintenance of data at Strike

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud data warehousing best practices, BigQuery is a plus
  • Experience with orchestration and pipelining tools such as Airflow or Prefect
  • Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of a high level programming language, preferably Python
  • Experience with real-time data capture and processing
  • Proficiency with data modeling and analysis using SQL
