Summary

Join Hippo Insurance's Polish branch as a Data Engineer and revolutionize home insurance. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into impactful data projects. Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines. Actively participate in evolving data architecture and ensure quality data in source systems. Collaborate with developers to foster a culture of data excellence. This role requires 4+ years of industry experience, including 2+ years in Data Engineering, proficiency in SQL and Python, and experience with BI tools. Afternoon meetings are expected due to the Polish-American team structure, but work-life balance is prioritized.

Requirements

  • Have 4+ years industry experience, including 2+ years in Data Engineering
  • Are skilled in SQL and Python
  • Have hands-on experience with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI)
  • Posses a strong understanding of data warehousing principles, data quality practices, and data pipeline design
  • Are able to size technical efforts and deliver projects within agreed upon timelines
  • Have an excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate technical designs to a diverse audience and understand and align on project requirements
  • See yourself as an active contributor to discussions and also proactively seek feedback and mentorship for continuous growth
  • Are available in the afternoons – you'll join a Polish-American team, so you can expect afternoon meetings (2-3 days a week). Rest assured, we prioritize work-life fit, respect everyone's private lives, and don’t work at night but we still must ensure that communication between the time zones is effective

Responsibilities

  • You'll partner with product, engineering, analytics, and business teams in several domains to translate business needs into impactful projects
  • You'll design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse to support company-wide reporting needs
  • You'll actively participate in the evolution of data architecture, contributing your expertise to discussions and proposing innovative solutions
  • You'll work closely with developers to ensure quality data in source systems and foster a culture of data excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DBT, Airflow, Fivetran, and BigQuery
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
